Supportive Dad Raised Nursing Student to Lead FEU Tamaraws

Nadine Gumabao is that type-A student with a heart of gold. She was already handling a directorship in an NGO when she heard the call for esports.

“It [TamsFx] piqued my interest because collegiate gaming organizations were new to me then,” Nadine recalls. She actually missed the deadline to join that year as she mulls her many other duties. The next year, she got accepted as the Sponsorship and Partnerships Director.

Her curiosity and fondness of video games started at home. The first competitive player she watched and learned from is her dad.

Nadine fondly tells the story of her dad teaching her how to farm in DotA2 whenever he’d go to the restroom, and how he helped her load a mobile data promo to play as long as she wanted when MLBB came out. Nadine notes how this was the main reason why she got interested in joining TamsFx in the first place.

Not a stranger to community development, Nadine learned how to balance advocating for the members of the organization. “There were times when the members' views differed from the organization's,” Nadine shares. “I learned how to decide when to be firm and when to compromise, and also that listening first and without biases is crucial in any decision.”

In many ways, the story of Nadine is a testament to their club’s name. The TamarawFx, for those old enough to remember, is a symbol of mobility engineered to handle the roughest roads and steepest mountains.
